  1. When writing this article we couldn’t trace back the recent history of charity closures in Australia, as earlier links to such new items no longer work. However, it’s clear that when Australia introduced a new charity regulation system in 2012, around 9,000 NGOs were closed in the following three years: https://thirdsector.com.au/5500-charities-lose-registration-with-the-acnc/ – this is a far bigger number than those mentioned in the Amnesty report.
